# Sweet Success: Leos Lead Diabetes Screening at Teku Ashram

Leo Club of Kathmandu Himalayas Patan hit day six of Leo Week running with their "Balancing for Life" diabetes screening program at Siddhi Seva Ashram in Teku. The early morning health initiative on December 6th brought essential preventative healthcare to a community that might otherwise miss regular screenings.

## Early Detection, Lasting Impact

Starting at 7 AM, the Leos and healthcare volunteers:

* Provided free blood glucose testing

* Offered personalized health consultations

* Distributed educational materials about diabetes prevention

* Connected high-risk individuals with follow-up resources

The program specifically targeted an ashram community, showing LCKHP's commitment to reaching diverse populations, including those who may face barriers to routine healthcare.

## Team Effort for Community Health

Multiple clubs from Leo District Council 325 R joined forces, demonstrating the district's unified approach to health promotion. This collaboration amplified the program's reach and effectiveness, allowing more community members to benefit from the screening services.

"Diabetes affects so many Nepalis, yet many cases go undiagnosed," noted one participating Leo. "Simple screenings like this can literally save lives by catching the condition early."

## Leo Week Momentum

As Leo Week continues building momentum, this diabetes program highlights the week's focus on practical, high-impact community service. By addressing non-communicable diseases that often receive less attention than infectious conditions, the Leos show their understanding of Nepal's evolving health challenges.
