# Breaking Silence: Leos Bring HIV/AIDS Awareness to Nirvana School

On World AIDS Day, Leo Club of Kathmandu Himalayas Patan kicked off Leo Week with an impactful HIV/AIDS awareness program at Nirvana School, Kumaripati. The December 1st event brought together Cluster 1 clubs from Leo District 325 R to educate students about a critical health topic that often goes undiscussed.

## Making Health Education Accessible

The afternoon session tackled important yet sensitive information in an age-appropriate way, giving students:

* Facts about HIV transmission and prevention

* Tools to combat stigma and misinformation

* Resources for further health education

By choosing a school setting, the Leos reached young people at a crucial age when building health literacy matters most.

## A Collaborative Effort

This wasn't just LCKHP's initiative - the entire Leo Cluster 1 community united to amplify the message. This collaboration showcases how Leo clubs can pool resources and expertise to create more meaningful impact in their communities.

"Starting Leo Week with health education perfectly reflects our commitment to service through knowledge," shared one participating Leo member. "The students' engagement showed us they're ready for these important conversations."

## Looking Forward

The success of this program sets a positive tone for the remainder of Leo Week celebrations. By addressing a topic still surrounded by stigma in many communities, these young leaders demonstrated their commitment to tackling difficult issues with compassion and facts.
